Chemistry Olympiad for Nepalese students in RCSC

14th February,2019

On February 14, 2019 RCSC in Kathmandu organized Chemistry Olympiad for pupils of 8-9 classes of Nepalese schools Ambition Academy and Lyceum Model School, which was dedicated to the International year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements of D. I. Mendeleev.

The competition was conducted in the form of a test on the knowledge of the elements of the periodic table, their interaction in General, and on General knowledge in terms of inorganic chemistry.

The top three of the competition was divided between students of both educational institutions, namely: the winner was Pratik Sedhain (Lyceum Model School), the second place – Aayush Niraula (Ambition Academy), the third – Romi Adhikari (Lyceum Model School), Simran Bhattarai (Ambition Academy), of grade 8 was also separately awarded for her very good result by members of the Examination Committee for her knowledge and efforts.

The winners and all participants were solemnly presented with medals, certificates and souvenirs from Russian Centre of Science and Culture. The purpose of this program was to awaken in children a love to study not only chemistry, but also other sciences and subjects provided by the school program.

A sweet treat was prepared for the children: a cake with edible pictures in the form of periodic table, as well as illustrations for some chemical experiments and images of chemical laboratory equipment.

For information:

The Periodic Table of Chemical Elements is one of the most significant achievements in Science, capturing the essence not only of chemistry, but also of physics and biology. It is a unique tool, enabling scientist to predict the appearance and properties of matter on the Earth and in the rest of the Universe.

This year, the world celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Opening of the Periodic Table by Dmitry Mendeleev, as proclaimed By the United Nations General Assembly, the “International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019)”.
