Photo exhibition "Unconquered Hero City"

   On April 26, 2019 Russian Centre of Science and Culture in association with Russian Society for Cooperation & Friendship with Nepal organized a photo exhibition “Unconquered Hero City” to mark the 75th anniversary of the lifting of Leningrad Blockade and Victory Day.  The photo exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Swaraj Shakya, General Secretary of Nepal Russia Friendship and Cultural Association and Miss Yuliya Androsova, Director of RCSC.

   

 Then the guests were addressed by the Chargé D' Affaires of the Russian Federation in Nepal Yuri Yuzhaninov, he spoke about the events that contributed to the breakthrough of the blockade of Leningrad, about the heroism of the participants in these events.  Among the guests were Ganesh Shah, Former Minister of Science, Environment and Technology and Chandrakanta Acharya, Secretary General of the Nepalese Russia Literary Society, who also spoke about the terrible 900 days of the blockade of the city and the horrors of the war against fascism in General.

    The author of the exhibition, Secretary of the Russian Society for Cooperation and Friendship with Nepal, Boris Vershinin gave a tour and spoke in detail about each exhibition.

    The program used short documentary films about the siege of Leningrad. The evening ended with a buffet. Thanks to a detailed selection of photos and videos, those present could briefly immerse themselves in the terrible, bloody historical events, witness the courage and heroism of Soviet soldiers and civilians, fully appreciate the real feat of not only Soviet soldiers, but also ordinary residents of the USSR, who bravely withstood everything: hunger, cold, bombing , loss, deprivation and other horrors of war, but were not broken by the enemy, and, in spite of everything, survived, won and liberated the world from fascism.
