RCSC together with Nepal Russia Science Society organized a program “Open Science, No One Leave Behind”
Russian Centre of Science and culture (RCSC) together with Nepal Russia Science Society (NRSS) organized a discussion program in honor of the International year of the periodic table (IYPT). The program was dedicated to the World Science Day 2019 on the theme “Open Science, No One Leave Behind”.
Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), was the main guest of the event. The program was attended by other distinguished persons such as Mr. Suresh Bhattarai – Secretary of NRSS, Mr. Laxman Dangol – Representative of RevoScience, Er. Sagar Shrestha – Representative of Paaila Technology, Er. Roshan Pandey – Vice President of NAST, Mr.Kshitiz Rimal – Journalist, Dr. Bishnu Marasini – Representative of NIST College, Dr. Bhanu Bhakta Neupane – Representative of Tribhuvan University , Er. Ganesh Shah – President of NRSS, Good will Ambassador of NAST and about 250 students from different schools and colleges of Kathmandu.
The first half of the program began with welcoming speeches by Mr. Suresh Bhattarai, Secretary of Nepal Russia Science Society (NRSS) and Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). They told few words about the outstanding scientist of mankind D. I. Mendeleev.
After that, documentaries about the biography of D. I. Mendeleev and his periodic table were shown, after which the presentation of “The City of Tobolsk” – birth place of the great scientist D. I. Mendeleev was shown to the audience.
The program of the event also included a discussion on “Open Science, No One Leave Behind”. During the discussion, the participants discussed issues in the field of science and technology research. The discussion was also about the obstacles to the use of research products in life by the state and others. It was also noted that not all research activities are encouraged by the state.
The main topics of the round tables were “Cyber security”, “Robotics”, “Design and Production of Satellites”, “Nanotechnology”, “Biochemistry”, etc. Members of the panel discussion answered numerous questions.
In conclusion, Er. Ganesh Shah, Former Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Nepal said that “The future of the country lies with you, you have to set goals, achieve outstanding results in science and technology, and it is quite achievable if you believe in it”.
