Celebration of the 74th Anniversary of the Great Victory
On May 9, 2019, Russian Centre of Science and Culture held a solemn celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people over the fascist occupiers.
After the congratulatory speech of the RCSC Director Yulia Androsova, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Federation in Nepal, Yuri I. Yuzhaninov addressed the guests, who stressed the historical significance of this event for the whole world. He told about those irreparable losses both human and material which the USSR had to sacrifice for the sake of a Victory over the enemy and liberation of the world from fascism. And asked all those present, if possible, to prevent the falsification of historical events and the diminution of the role of the Soviet Union in the great Victory.
After laying flowers to the exhibition “Eternal Flame” and the stand “Immortal Regiment” and a minute of silence, the evening continued with a program prepared by compatriots for the staff of the Russian Embassy and their families, which were told several historical events that contributed to or preceded the writing of songs of the war years, such as “Katyusha”, “Holy War”, “Dark Night” and others.
The celebration ended with a festive “Salute”, namely, the launch of 74 balloons of the color of St. George's Ribbon into the sky, the treat of a soldier's marching porridge from the “Field Kitchen” and many other informal communications in the fresh air.
