Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics in Russia and New Year Celebration in Nepal.

Russian Centre of Science and Culture together with the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities "Mitra Kunj" held joint events: the photo exhibition "People and Cosmos" dedicated to the Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics in Russia and the celebration of the upcoming Nepalese New Year 2076.

 

    Representative of RCSC and the President of the Mitra Kunj Association, Dhruba Maharjan, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech, a brief historical excursion into the Soviet history of space exploration, told about the emergence of the holiday “Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics” in general, and announced the upcoming major event - the opening of the first bust in the world cosmonaut Yu.A. Gagarin and congratulated those present on the occasion of upcoming Nepalese New Year.

  An item worthy of viewing in this exhibition was the poster of the movie Salyut-7 personally signed for Russian Centre of Science and Culture by Mr. Viktor Savinykh who is a Soviet cosmonaut and participated in 3 space missions and spent over 252 days on MIR, Salyut-6 and Salyut-7 stations. 

   On April 24, the Soviet and Russian cosmonaut Twice Hero of the Soviet Union V. P. Savinykh will visit Nepal to unveil the bust of Yuri Gagarin together with the mayor of Kathmandu.
